The U.S. Snowboard Racing Team announced its nominations for the 2025-26 winter season Thursday.
Among the eight nominations to the elite team are Steamboat’s own Cody Winters and Walker Overstake.
The elite team is reserved for the highest caliber of snowboard racers with the greatest possibilities for winning medals in future World Championship and Olympic Winter Games competitions.
Selection criteria had a heavy emphasis on performance in World Cup and World Championship events from this past season.
Winters is a unique athlete in that he competes in two disciplines at the World Cup level — boardercross and Alpine snowboard events. This season, Winters took 5th in the parallel slalom world championships, as well as earning bronze medals in two World Cup events.
Overstake had a breakout season this winter, capturing his first NorAm Cup victory and overall title; completing his first World Cup season with two top-30s; qualifying for the 2025-26 World Cup season; and crowning himself a two-time national champion.
