The Bud Werner Library’s Wild Films series will present award-winning films from the 2022 International Wildlife Film Festival, opening with “My Garden of a Thousand Bees,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 in Library Hall.
For the film, acclaimed wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn set out to record all the bee species in his tiny urban garden in Bristol, England. Filming with one-of-a-kind lenses he forged at his kitchen table, he catalogued more than 60 different species. Over months, Dohrn observed how differences in behavior set different species apart.
The winner of the Best Animal Behavior film award will be accompanied by the IWFF Best Short Film winner, “Deveaux Bank: Reflections of a Cultural Ornithologist.”
