I first joined the Arts Council when my kids were old enough to go to the summer Kaleidoscope camps. I really hadn’t put together all that the Arts Council did in our town. I had been attending Art in the Park, the Cabaret, and my daughter attended dance programs at Perry Mansfield, and in town my son has had several art shows at the Depot. I just didn’t understand how the Arts Council was behind all of these things that I love to do and see. They promote local artists, as well as bring enrichment to our valley with other artists. Currently, 42 of Diego Rivera’s sketches will are being exhibited at the Depot and my daughter’s High School drawing class was involved with a street painting project portraying Diego’s work. This was due in part by the Arts Council …It’s influence is everywhere and I sincerely thank everyone in our community who enjoys and supports the Arts Council in their wonderful contributions.

I joined the Steamboat Springs Arts Council for the exhibition opportunities and for the opportunity to participate in SSAC community events and to interact with other artists.

Everyone needs to be connected with the art world because it is all around us. Especially in Steamboat where there are so many local artists that we need to support because they are such a large part of the livelihood in our community.
