WestFest seeking volunteers

— WestFest, the western music and cultural festival hosted by Michael Martin Murphey, is seeking volunteers to work at the two-day event.

Volunteers are needed to help with security, concessions, ticket booths and other aspects of the festival. All volunteers will get free admission to the festival, which is Saturday and Sunday at the base of the ski mountain in Torian Plum Plaza.

About 20 volunteers are needed each day. Anyone interested in working the festival in exchange for free admission both days is encouraged to call 879-8414.

Performers scheduled to take the stage Saturday include Murphey, Hal Ketchum, Sam Bush, Red Steagall and Riders in the Sky. On Sunday performers include Shawn Colvin, Ricky Skaggs, Hot Club of Cowtown and Steagall. Murphey will close the show.

Gates open at 11 a.m. each day and entertainment will be about eight hours.

A one-day ticket for the event is $24 in advance or $28 at the gate.

Two-day tickets are $43 in advance or $49 at the gate. All seating is general admission.
