West Routt Firefighters were still on scene at 825 West Jefferson Ave. in Hayden after extinguishing an early morning fire at the Creek View Grill on Wednesday.

“There were flames coming out from the eaves on one side of the building when we arrived,” said Brad Parrott, assistant chief with the West Routt Fire. “We were able to get a quick knock on it. I would say it took about 20 minutes.”

Parrott said crews responded to the fire after being paged at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, and about 15 firefighters responded. He said the business was closed at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

Parrott would not elaborate on the extent of the damage to the building, and it was too early to determine a cause. He said crews from West Routt Fire were still on the scene at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, and a state investigator was expected to arrive later in the morning.

“There’s still crews on scene just waiting on an investigator,” Parrott said. “The cause is still under investigation and we are just waiting for a state investigator to come out. He is enroute and the investigation should get going this morning.”
