Weather further delays Arnold Barn relocation
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A series of storms this past week that brought rain, hail and snow along with a forecast for additional unsettled weather through the weekend has rescheduled the relocation of the historic Arnold Barn to Wednesday, Oct. 17 and Thursday, Oct. 18.
Looking to take advantage of firmer ground conditions, the barn will be lifted from its current location during the early morning and moved to the northwest corner of the Meadows Parking Lot Wednesday, Oct. 17. In addition that day, city crews will remove several directional signs and other obstacles on Mount Werner Road that would impact the barn’s travel.
More impactful effects will take shape 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, as Community Service Officers and city crews put the finishing touches on the detours and reroutes, which will go into place around 11:30 a.m.. The barn is expected to be on the road shortly after 11:30 a.m. The entire process on Thursday is expected to take two to two and 1/2 hours and crews anticipate having the barn placed in its new location between 2 to 3 p.m., with detours reopening during that same time frame.
