Warm week ahead in Steamboat after weekend storm ‘underperformed’

A warm week lies ahead for Steamboat Springs.

Strong winds, passing clouds and temperatures in the 50s are forecast for Monday, with possible light snow showers at high elevations early in the day, according to local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth, who posts twice a week forecasts to SnowAlarm.com.

Despite models predicting a significant winter storm last weekend, Weissbluth noted the expected weather system “underperformed,” possibly due to warming temperatures.

Mostly clear skies and temperatures in the mid-50s and are expected for Tuesday, Weissbluth added in his report on Sunday, and projected to rise to the 60s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Clouds may increase on Thursday due to moisture from the Pacific storm, but temperatures will remain high, said Weissbluth. Light showers are possible on Friday, he wrote, with better snow chances returning for the weekend.
