— The Grand Junction office of the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory Sunday for the Elk River near Routt County Road 42, west of Steamboat Springs, through Tuesday evening. Above-average temperatures have accelerated snowmelt, the office said, causing the Elk to reach a 7-foot stage Sunday morning. Bank-full stage is 6.5 feet, the office said, while flood-level is 7.5 feet. The river could reach nearly 8 feet at C.R. 42 today and Tuesday, the office projected. Temperatures in the 80s are forecast for Steamboat through Thursday. The Weather Service also is projecting minor flooding along the Eagle River near Minturn and Gore Creek through Vail, as warm temperatures are spurring heavy runoff flows across the state.
