The Rams picked up an individual regional championship from sophomore Chloe Veilleux and a second-place finish from junior Ben Kelley.

Veilleux held on for a decisive win in the meet, finishing the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 43.06 seconds. That put her well ahead of Soleil Gaylord, of Telluride, who was second in 19:07.87.

Ben Kelley, meanwhile, added another top finish to his long, successful season, though he came up just short of winning his first regional title. He was second, behind Rangely’s Patrick Scoggins, a frequent rival. Scoggins was in at 16:04.31, and Kelley was barely more than 1 second behind, at 16:05.68.

Kourtney Bruner finished 13th in the girls race, good enough to join both Veilleux and Kelley in running next week at the state meet.

Brad Veilleux was 37th in the boys race, and Joshua Taing was 38th.
