Tree mitigation on Yampa Street begins next week
The City of Steamboat Springs and Aspen Tree Service will begin tree mitigation work on Yampa Street between Little Toots and Fifth Street on Monday, Aug. 29.
According to a news release, work will begin in the area of Little Toots Park and progress to Fifth Street. Crews will be removing dead limbs and promoting the overall health of the trees.
“This routine maintenance and inspections are imperative in promoting the longevity and lifespan of the trees” Open Space and Trails Supervisor Jenny Carey said in the release. “Not only is this important for the health of the tree, but it is also a key requirement for our annual Tree City USA designation. ”
On Monday, there will be a short Yampa River Core Trail closure at Little Toots Park, with a detour going around Bud Werner Memorial Library around noon.
Additionally, the parking lot at Yampa and Ninth streets between Backdoor Sports and the Ambulance Barn will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 31. On Thursday, Sept. 1, and Friday, Sept. 2, the parking lot at Seventh Street will be closed.
Detours will shift with the work as crews move down Yampa Street and is expected to wrap up Friday.
