Steamboat Springs — The Board of Directors of Tread of Pioneers Museum asks the voters of Routt County to vote “no” on Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101.
The Tread of Pioneers Museum, along with many nonprofits across our county and state, will be negatively affected by these measures. City and county governments throughout the state will have their general fund revenues reduced. These reductions in revenue will result in a significant decrease of funds allocated for community services and nonprofit support.
Why vote “no”? To preserve education, economic development, critical state and local infrastructure and other public services in towns, counties and school districts across Colorado. Voting “no” will protect the fiscal health of local governments and nonprofit services.
If Amendment 60 passes, the Tread of Pioneers Museum will struggle to continue to provide free, curriculum-based school tours, historical film showings and lectures, preservation and digitization of Steamboat’s historical photos, oral histories and exhibits that tell the story of our unique heritage. Our ability to educate and increase awareness and appreciation of our historical resources will be severely hindered.
Join us, together with many other nonprofit organizations, the Routt County Board of Commissioners, the Steamboat Springs School District, the Colorado Association of Nonprofits, The Denver Post and Steamboat Pilot & Today editorial boards, and hundreds of organizations, business and governments across Colorado in voting “no” on 60, 61 and 101 in November.
