The Women’s Fellowship held its annual spring luncheon April 17 at the Parish Hall in the Congregational Church. As always, a large crowd enjoyed the yummy food.
Jimmy Walker and his fiancee, Steffanie, were here last weekend visiting and finalizing many of their wedding plans for the big day May 11.
The Yampa Valley Community Foundation and First Impressions hosted the annual Routt County Teachers Appreciation dinner Saturday evening, April 6, at the Old Town Pub in Steamboat Springs. This dinner is to honor the county day-care and early childhood educators. Following dinner, the awards ceremony was held. Recipients this year were as follows: Nancy White from North Routt, Discovery Learning Center in Steamboat Springs, and Julie Redmond’s day care in Hayden. These ladies each received a $1,000 cash award and a beautiful plaque. Dancing was provided in the late evening for all.
Bob Barnes underwent minor surgery at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs last Monday.
Stanley Riskus passed away April 22 at the Jewel Assisted Living Facility in Craig. Stanley and his late wife, Marie, made their home in this vicinity for many years. Stanley and Marie lived in Hayden until his retirement from the coal mines. They then moved to Craig to spend their leisure years. Stanley has been in ill health for quite some time. Memorial services are pending at this writing.
An open forum meeting was held at The Haven Assisted Living Facility on Tuesday evening, April 23, to discuss the financial future of living facilities and nursing homes in our area and the country in general. The president of the board, Mark Fischer, presented to the crowd the past and present information available and the future outlook of all such facilities. Open discussion was well received from the large gathering.
On April 16, the Hayden Pee Wee wrestlers turned in their uniforms for the 2002 wrestling season. Afterward they all enjoyed pizza and drinks.
On April 20, The Haven celebrated April birthdays. Those being honored were Roberto Pero and Modine McLimore. Lisa Zirkle and Marie Bridges provided entertainment for everyone.
Judy Copeland took Theresa Bennett to Fort Collins the fore part of the week to receive medical attention.
Cody Blake was here last week from Rock Springs to visit his grandmother, Olive Dean.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Earle made a trip to Denver last week where Genie received medical attention.
