Town board to discuss park

The Hayden Town Board will discuss improvements to Hayden Town Park at Thursday's meeting.

— Parks, parks and more parks.

Monday’s news of a $400,000 grant being awarded for improvements to Dry Creek Park had Hayden officials feeling good, but improvements to the Hayden Town Park on Third Street also might be in store.

At today’s Hayden Town Board meeting, trustees will discuss the Park and Recreation board’s proposal to spend about $15,000 on sprucing up Town Park.

High on the list of priorities are resurfacing the tennis courts and fixing the fencing. Also, Parks Board members are proposing that sand be added to the volleyball court and a new net be put up. The park’s sign also needs to be replaced.

The money to make the park improvements would come from money that was set aside this budget year for capital improvements.

The Hayden Town Board also will:

n Consider a special event permit for the Routt County Fair parade

n Consider extending the Dry Creek Village Subdivision approval

n Consider issuing a special event beer license for the Cog Rally

n Consider different options for structuring the Parks and Recreation supervisor position

n Consider approving a request from public works to purchase about $75,000 worth of equipment

n Discuss the effectiveness of the reverse 911 system. The system was used July 30 to alert residents to conserve water. Some people who should have received the message did not receive it.
