— When the Intermountain Senior Sectional Championship continues at the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs today, 21 local players will be fighting for name recognition.

“It’s the Intermountain, so it’s the tournament that usually determines the rankings for the whole Intermountain area,” said Don Simpson, a competitor from Denver.

The tourney, which began Thursday, resumes today and runs through Sunday, with an 8 a.m. starting time each day.

Twenty-one Steamboat tennis players are in the tourney, according toJim Swiggart, director of the Tennis Center.

Swiggart, who is competing in the men’s 50s division, is a returning six-time champion of the Intermountain Senior Sectional Championship.
