3 — Straight games the Soroco High School girls basketball team has had a player score more than 20 points. All three equaled huge wins for the Rams. Briana Peterson led the way with 27 points against Gilpin County, a game Soroco led, 47-16, at halftime. Jessica Rossi also had 21 points that game. Last weekend's home win against De Beque saw 25 points from DaKota Bruner, who followed it up with 22 points at Lake County on Saturday.
2 — Blocks away from netting a triple-double for Garrett Bye in the Sailors' win at home against Summit on Friday. It would have been the senior center's first career triple-double. Bye scored 20 points and snagged 11 rebounds with those eight blocks. He also altered about a half dozen other shots that came near him in the paint.
4 — Straight pins by Steamboat Springs sophomore wrestler Matthew Hansen on Saturday at the Carl Ramunno Invitational. Hansen made quick work of all his opponents in his 145-pound bracket and scored the most pins out of any of his teammates in the tournament. He took gold — obviously.

Steamboat Springs — 1. Millard snags podium for SSHS Alpine girls
Steamboat Springs senior McKenzie Millard said she felt Howelsen Hill would be a big advantage when the Sailors hosted their only home slalom of the season, and it was proven in a big way. Millard had a solid first run and an even better second run, earning her a third place finish behind a pair of state championship-level skiers Friday. Millard followed that up by qualifying for state in classic and skate disciplines in Saturday’s Nordic race in Minturn.
2. Garrett Bye and Robi Powers do it all for Steamboat boys basketball
Without captains Garrett Bye and Robi Powers, it’s hard to imagine the Sailors avoiding an upset loss at home against Summit on Friday night. Bye got it started, scoring Steamboat’s first six points and finished with 20 in the game. Powers closed it out with a game-high 22 points. Together, Bye and Powers accounted for 87 percent of the Sailors’ 49 points.
3. Young Steamboat and Hayden wrestlers put on a show in Routt County
Nearly Steamboat’s entire team is made up of underclassmen and they didn’t disappoint in Saturday’s Carl Ramunno Invitational on the Sailors’ campus. They racked up seven podium finishes and four gold medals to win the meet. Hayden sent only freshmen and sophomores and they performed well enough for second place with a pair of gold medals from Devlyn Mossman and Christian Carson.
4. Soroco girls get to double-digit wins
As expected, the Soroco High School girls basketball team had little trouble with its Saturday opponent in Lake County. The Rams blew by the Panthers by more than 40 points, making them the first Routt County basketball team to hit double-digit wins. DaKota Bruner and Jessica Rossi combined to score 43 points in the victory.

Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball coach Luke DeWolfe looking ahead to rematches against all 4A Western Slope League teams, starting Tuesday at Rifle:
“It’s tough to play everybody a second time,” DeWolfe said. “We have Rifle again and it won’t be easy. That’s a team that typically grows exponentially.”
