Uranium Mine Snowshoe Tour — Fish Creek Canyon, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a moderately strenuous walk along Fish Creek Canyon, led by a Yampatika naturalist. Meet in the upper parking lot at the kiosk by the Fish Creek trailhead. Snowmobile safety course — Steamboat Lake State Park, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Training course offered to new/beginner snowmobile riders covering snowmobile history, preparing to ride, riding snowmobiles, riding safety and responsibility and preparing for the unexpected. Class also focuses on snow safety and avalanche awareness. Steamboat Mardi Gras — Steamboat Ski Resort, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The good times will roll in with an all-day Mardi Gras snow sculpture contest, face painting in Gondola Square from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a Mardi Gras Party with street performers, Cajun flavors and a Mardi Gras Parade that will start at 2:30 p.m. in Torian Plum Plaza in front of the Steamboat Base Club then will travel throughout the Mountain Village. Mardi Gras Concert: MarchFourth — Steamboat Ski Resort, 3 p.m.

Featuring the internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking force, MarchFourth will bring a concert full of funk, rock, jazz, afro-beat, gypsy brass, and big band, with a visual kaleidoscope of stilt walkers, acrobats and Vaudeville-style performers that will deliver high-energy compositions, colorful costumes, hilarious stage shenanigans and infectious jubilation. Moonhill Schoolhouse Open Mic and Dance — Moonhill Schoolhouse Community Center, 7 to 11 p.m.

2017 Snow Drawing: Finding Peace in Nature — Carpenter Ranch, 9 a.m. to noon

The Yampa Valley community is invited to join Bud Werner Memorial Library and The Nature Conservancy in creating a large, landscape-scale work of art on the snowy haymeadow at the Carpenter Ranch. The theme of this year’s drawing is “Finding Peace in Nature.” Volunteer artists meet at the Carpenter Ranch near Hayden at 9 a.m. Participants must bring their own snowshoes, snacks and water. Free ski day and “Hotdogger” giveaway — Howelsen Hill, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bud Werner Memorial Library is giving away a free copy of the book, “Hotdogger,” to every kid age 8 and older during a free ski day at Howelsen Hill. The author and illustrator of the Aldo Zelnick graphic novels, Kendra Spanjer and Karla Oceanak, will be on hand to autograph copies of the book. The event takes place at Howelsen Hill. To top it off, the city of Steamboat Springs is giving away free hot dogs. 845 Howelsen Pkwy.
