Tina Kyprios, Kay Weinland and Catherine Carson: Exercise your right to vote
The 2014 General Election is a mail ballot election. Mail ballots were sent to all eligible voters to the address on their voter registration, beginning Oct. 14.
Routt County voters now have the following options:
1. Ballot drop-off locations
A 24-hour secure (video surveillance) ballot box at is located outside the Routt County Courthouse under the walkway in the alley.
Ballots can be dropped off at the following locations during office hours: County Clerk’s Office, 522 Lincoln Ave., Steamboat Springs; Clark Store, 54175 Routt County Road 129, Clark; Hayden Town Hall, 178 W. Jefferson, Hayden; Oak Creek Town Hall, 129 Nancy Crawford Blvd., Oak Creek; and Yampa Town Hall, 56 Lincoln St., Yampa.
Routt County offers in-person voter services at Voter Service and Polling Centers. At these locations a voter can: request a ballot if they did not receive their ballot; update their address; request a replacement ballot; vote in-person; and vote using accessible voting equipment.
Residents can register to vote through 7 p.m. on Election Day if they have been a resident of Routt County for 22 days.
2. Voter Service and Polling Center locations and hours
■ Courthouse Annex, Trout Creek Room, 622 Lincoln Ave., Steamboat Springs: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through Monday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
■ Hayden Town Hall, 178 W Jefferson, Hayden.
■ Oak Creek Town Hall, 129 Nancy Crawford Blvd, Oak Creek, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday
Voters are reminded to mark their ballots with blue or black ink and to sign their ballot envelope. All voted ballots must be received in a signed, sealed envelope. Every signature is verified to ensure voter eligibility. Voters must sign their own ballot envelope.
Postage to mail your ballot is 48 cents (one stamp). Ballots should have been mailed by Tuesday to insure receipt by Nov. 4. Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
