Down two sets to none, Hayden volleyball had a lot of work to do in its cross-county rivalry match in Steamboat Springs on Thursday.

The Tigers had just suffered a 25-7 second-set loss but found it within themselves to win three straight sets to earn their fifth victory of the regular season.

The match came down to a deciding fifth set where the first to 15 points wins. The set was tight, but the Tigers managed to hold on in the final few rallies to win 15-12 and earn their third-consecutive victory.

With the loss, the Sailors fell below a .500 record for the first time this season at 6-7. The team is riding a four-game losing streak and will look to break it against Palisade at 1 p.m. Saturday at home.

The Tigers, now 5-7 on the year, are up against a three-game road stretch, which includes matches against Grand Valley, Rangely and Vail Mountain before returning home to host Vail Christian on Oct. 6.
