Tigers knock off Hotchkiss for 1st win

Hayden High School Tigers

The Hayden High School girls volleyball team got its first win of the season, traveling Friday to knock off Hotchkiss in three sets.

“They did great,” coach Dayna Hunter said about her team, now 1-3 on the season. “They played so well together.”

That togetherness was key for the Tigers, who were coming off an 0-3 start to the season at a tournament in Rangely.

Hunter pointed to a handful of players, including Darian Murphy and Kyra Bennett helping lead the team, Jessika Hockett passing the ball and Joey Deckler blocking at the net.

“All the girls really played well together and they’re starting to get a little bit of confidence,” Hunter said.

The team was scheduled to play Saturday, but the game was postponed. A makeup date has not be set. The team is next in action Friday when it travels to play at Vail Mountain.
