Tigers grab second win

— It wasn’t just that the team won. It was how it won that impressed Hayden High School boys basketball coach Jody Harvey on Friday night.

His Tigers won on the road to beat North Park, 48-41. Last month, Hayden lost at home against the Wildcats by double digits.

“We got in foul trouble, and I was really proud of my kids,” Harvey said. “They faced some adversity and overcame it to get the win.

“It shows we’re growing, growing up and being more mature.”

Thomas Rauch scored 15 points, and Juan Carlos Valdez and Garrett Camilletti each had seven.

It was Hayden’s second win of the season and comes after they lost decisively Thursday night against Meeker.

“I was proud tonight, coming after we played Meeker,” Harvey said. “I was pleased with the way the kids responded, coming out and playing well. We’re building some momentum going into Saturday.”

The Tigers play at 2:30 p.m. today at home against West Grand.
