Tigers fall at Plateau Valley, 41-0

Hayden High School Tigers

— Plateau Valley used its speed to burn past the Hayden High School football team Saturday, racking up a 41-0 win against the Tigers.

“That’s our nemesis,” coach Ryan Wilkie said, considering the Cowboys quickness. “We’re not very fast, but our kids hung in there and fought. When you’re getting beat like that, it tests your character, and we’re proud of our kids.”

Wilkie said he had several young players respond well in the situation, including Hunter Hatcher on the defensive line and Justin Fry on the offensive line. Both are a part of the team’s huge 13-member junior class.

“We’re starting to grow up,” Wilkie said. “Some of our young players are really starting to improve.”

Next up for Hayden, 3-5, is a trip to play at 7 p.m. Friday against intra-county rival, Soroco.
