Tiger girls tear up De Beque

— The final game of the regular season was a chance to empty the bench for the Hayden High School girls basketball team, which won at De Beque Saturday, 59-21.

The Tigers built a big lead early and didn’t let any of their front line players last more than two quarters in the game.

Coach Michelle Wilkie said her team wasn’t as sharp as it was Friday night in a thrilling loss to Soroco, but it was plenty strong enough to get the job done.

“We worked hard and got another league win,” she said. “I was very pleased with how the girls ended the last two weeks. They came out and started peaking right when they needed to.”

Grace Wilkie led the team with 13 points. Darian Murphy scored 12.

Hayden improved to 6-12 with the win, 3-7 in league play. They’ll have at least one more game now, playing Feb. 24 in the first round of the district tournament, likely on the road against Meeker.
