Thursday snow causes changes to Steamboat sports schedule

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A spat of winter weather resulted in a series of canceled and rescheduled games Thursday at Steamboat Springs High School.

The afternoon’s boys lacrosse game against Vail Mountain was pushed back a day and will now be played at 4 p.m. Friday. Steamboat, then, swapped the schedule for Saturday’s home lacrosse games against Battle Mountain. The varsity boys will now play at 1 p.m. after they were originally scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Junior varsity will now take that earlier slot.

It’s a big back-to-back for the Sailors as wins in both games could secure the league championship.

The Sailors’ baseball doubleheader against Summit scheduled for Friday was also postponed, though a new date and time hasn’t been announced. Steamboat can secure its first winning season in at least a decade with at least one win in those two games.
