Developmental screening takes a closer look at how your child is developing and meeting typical milestones in the areas of playing, learning, speaking, moving and socializing. If you have any questions, concerns or are curious about your child’s development in any of these areas, participation in a developmental screening can help answer these.
Children will participate in an individually administered developmental screening as well as have their hearing and vision screened. Developmental screenings will be completed by trained early childhood specialists, including an early childhood teacher, school psychologist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, hearing specialist, school nurse and bilingual interpreter, if needed. At the time of screening, families will be provided with their child’s developmental screening results, recommendations and possible next steps.
Outside of the upcoming March developmental screenings, The Northwest Colorado BOCES Child Find Team accepts and processes referrals year-round for children ages 3 to 5 who reside in Routt County. Referrals or questions can be directed to Brett Eavenson, Child Find co-coordinator for Routt County, at 970-879-0391 ext. 325. Lindsey Garey, early intervention coordinator for Horizons Specialized Services, accepts and processes referrals for children age birth to 3 who reside in Routt County.
