Thoughtful Parenting: Family connections guide
Prior to parenthood, one can never truly appreciate the plethora of information one needs to know to raise a child. Who is their dentist? What are my options for schools in the area? Where/when do I sign up for soccer? As kids age, their needs and interests change alongside them, and it is stressful to feel like you are always playing catch-up.
Routt County families are fortunate to have access to an abundance of resources that exist to contribute to the family unit’s overall wellness. One big challenge of having so many recourses is that, often times, people aren’t aware of the purpose or even existence of many of the organizations that are available to them.
In efforts to inform families of Routt County’s available resources, area parent and youth serving organizations have collaborated to produce the second Family Connections Guide. This great tool provides parents, from those expecting their first child to those with 18-year-olds, with information regarding area services and offerings in the following areas.
- The arts
- Community services and resources
- Early childhood education and schools
- Educational services and resources
- Medical facilities and resources
- Behavioral health
- Outdoor education and camps
- Parks and playgrounds
- Recreation, clubs and youth groups
The guide can be accessed at http://online.fliphtml5.com/mptf/okys/?1538600141454. In addition, physical guidebooks are available at schools, libraries and other family serving organizations such as child care centers, libraries, Boys and Girls Club, etc., throughout the county. If you need help getting your hands on one, contact Stephanie Martin at 970-870-5270 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope that you use this great tool and spread the word to your friends and neighbors. Routt County is lucky to have the hard working and caring individuals that it does. Let’s make the most of what we have right in our own backyard.
Thank you to all of those who contributed their time and effort to bring this guide to reality. A huge thanks goes to the individuals with the Routt County Youth Services Coalition, the Northwest Colorado Health’s Communities that Care Program, the Fatherhood Program of Routt County, First Impressions of Routt County and the Family Development Center for their dedication to the project.
