Monday, Oct. 24

7:46 a.m. — Steamboat Springs Police responded to a reported theft at the 3100 block of Ingles Lane.

9:38 a.m. — Police investigated a reported shoplifting at the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. 

12:02 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Curve Plaza. 



2:09 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. 

11:27 p.m. — Police responded to a bear call at a business at the 800 block of Oak Street. 



Tuesday, Oct. 25

7:30 a.m. — Police assisted with a missing person’s case at the 3600 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

9:21 a.m. — The Routt County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of fraud at County Road 29. 

11:33 a.m. — Police responded to an animal complaint in a parking lot on Strings Road.  

1:54 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Curve Plaza. 

5:36 p.m. — Police and sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at the 1800 block of Central Park Drive. 

Wednesday, Oct. 26

9:05 a.m. — The sheriff’s office responded to a bear call at Sleeping Giant School.

9:50 p.m. — Police responded to a reported animal bite at the 300 block of River Road. 

Thursday, Oct. 27

8:18 a.m. — Police and sheriff’s deputies investigated a reported stolen vehicle at Curve Plaza. The incident was connected to multiple other crimes across town, including a theft from a vehicle at Ski Time Square and two stolen vehicles. The series of crimes culminated with the arrests of a male and female. 

4:38 p.m. — The sheriff’s office investigated a reported fraud on Fallen Falcon Trail in Oak Creek. 

7:02 p.m. — Police responded to a bear call at the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

Friday, Oct. 28

8:05 p.m. — Police responded to a reported animal bite at the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. 

Saturday, Oct. 29

12:28 a.m. — Police responded to a drug violation at 1400 Bob Adams Drive. 

5:47 p.m. — The sheriff’s office assisted Routt County Search and Rescue with a mission near mile marker three on County Road 45. A hunter had been reported lost but was located prior to the deputies’ deployment. 

6:22 p.m. — Police responded to a bear call at the 3100 block of Chinook Lane. 

Sunday, Oct. 30

1:58 p.m. — The sheriff’s office investigated a reported theft on Sagebrush Circle on Oak Creek. 

3:41 p.m. — Police responded to an animal complaint at Emerald Park. 

5:29 p.m. — The sheriff’s office assisted the Hayden Police Department respond to a report of a suspicious person on Jefferson Drive in Hayden. The reporting party stated that a seemingly disoriented man had trespassed on their property then wandered over and laid down in a ditch. The man was not in the area by the time law enforcement arrived.

10:56 p.m. — The sheriff’s office investigated a report of two suspicious males in the showers at a campground outside of Hayden. The reporting party said the two men were in the shower for over an hour and were asking people strange questions such as how much money people made or if they had beers to bring back to the shower. The two men mentioned getting into showers with other people as well. The reporting party was concerned people might send kids into the same showers. The full report on the incident is still being worked on. 

From October 24 to October 30, first responders in Routt County received a total of 317 calls including:

• The Steamboat Springs Police Department responded to 133 calls.

• The Routt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 103 calls.

• Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue responded to 61 calls.

• West Routt Fire Protection responded to 10 calls.

• North Routt Fire Protection responded to two calls.

• Oak Creek Fire Protection responded to five calls.

• Yampa Fire Protection responded to one call.

• Routt County Search and Rescue responded to two calls.
