Police, fire and ambulance calls

12 a.m. Hayden Fire Protection District firefighters were called to help someone with a medical problem in the 500 block of East Jefferson Avenue.

1:40 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of ongoing bear problems and trash not being secured in the 1300 block of Dream Island Plaza.



1:57 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear in the 3200 block of Willowbrook Court.

6:34 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear trying to get into a kitchen window in the 1300 block of Blue Sage Drive. The window screen was damaged, and items were knocked over. The bear was gone when officers arrived.



7:26 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a report of an accident near mile marker 13 on Routt County Road 179. The driver reached down to retrieve her coffee and drove off the road and down a steep hill. There were four horses in a trailer, and one died. The driver was cited for careless driving.

8:24 a.m. Officers were called to a report of criminal mischief in the 2300 block of Après Ski Way. Someone put shampoo in a hot tub.

9:40 a.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called to a report of a semi on fire near mile marker 139 on U.S. Highway 40 on Rabbit Ears Pass. Smoke was coming from the semi, but there did not appear to be a fire.

12:18 p.m. Steamboat firefighters were called to help a person who fell in the 1100 block of Gilpin Court.

12:44 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a dog in a car with no windows open in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive. It was gone when officers arrived.

1:45 p.m. Officers were called to a report of people loitering and begging in the 2000 block of Curve Plaza.

3:27 p.m. Officers were called to a report of an overdue tuber in the Yampa River. The tuber was found before officers arrived.

3:35 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a $200 bike stolen from Howelsen Hill.

3:41 p.m. Steamboat firefighters were called to help a person who fell in the 3800 block of Whistler Road.

8:46 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious person in the 300 block of Hilltop Parkway. The person was involved in a car crash the previous night and was looking at the crash scene.

9:06 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear in the 1300 block of Dream Island Plaza. It was gone when officers arrived.

10:30 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear in the first block of Anglers Drive. It was chased away.

11:44 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear in the 3600 block of Lincoln Avenue. It left.
