1:50 a.m. A man in the first block of Cedar Court reported smelling burning rubber coming from somewhere in his home. The man later found a lamp had tipped over and burnt some carpet. Fire fighters extinguished the burning.

3:35 a.m. A 58-year-old transient man reportedly tried to climb onto a hotel’s balcony in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. The person staying in the room called police to report the incident. The man was arrested later in the day after he reportedly asked some people for drugs at a Steamboat Springs park.



8:53 a.m. A gas skip was reported in the 2100 block of Mount Werner Road. Police later found that the people’s credit card hadn’t gone through for the purchase, and they later returned to pay for the gas.

8:56 a.m. Drug activity was reported in the 800 block of Weiss Drive. The incident is under investigation.



10:49 a.m. A woman and her 12-year-old son reportedly were fighting in the 1500 block of Harwig Circle. Officers mediated the situation and referred the family to human services personnel.

11:13 a.m. A two-vehicle, noninjury accident was reported near Anglers Drive and Lincoln Avenue.

12:16 p.m. Someone in the 1700 block of Fetcher Park Drive reportedly became very upset with officers at the prospect of receiving a dog at large ticket. Officers “handled the situation” and called mental health officials to mediate. The person was not given a citation.

12:43 p.m. Someone was given a ticket for parking on some grass in the 2500 block of Pine Grove Road.

1:34 p.m. A fluorescent light reportedly was smoking in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue.

2:54 p.m. A 58-year-old transient man in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue was arrested on suspicion of second-degree trespass after he reportedly asked some people at a park for drugs. After being told to leave, the man reportedly became angry with them and threatened to fight them. The man earlier had attempted to climb the balcony of a hotel to gain access to a room.

3:10 p.m. A 19-year-old woman was taken to the hospital from the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue because she was having difficulty breathing.

5:25 p.m. A man was given a citation for careless driving near Clubhouse Drive and Marine Circle after he reportedly lost control of his car and went off the side of the road. No injuries or damage was reported.

7:39 p.m. Two small fires were reported in the 4700 block of Routt County Road 78 in Hayden. Fire fighters said the fires were started by lightning and consumed about 1 1/2 acres in total. The fires were put out by the rain before fire fighters got there.

7:50 p.m. A man in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue was concerned that a group of people were drinking in the Yampa River and thought they might drown. Officers gave the people a verbal warning.

9:44 p.m. A man and woman reportedly were arguing in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers gave the couple a warning.

11:29 p.m. A 24-year-old Steamboat Springs man was arrested on suspicion of speeding and driving while ability impaired by alcohol near Walton Creek and Whistler roads.

11:59 p.m. A security company reported seeing a group of people throwing water balloons at cars near AprÃs Ski Way and Ski Trail Lane. The group was gone when officers arrived.
