Telemark race set for Thursday

— It will be another busy weekend of Telemark ski racing in Steamboat Springs this winter, with the World Championships due to hit town late in February.

Before any of that, however, the racing will start Thursday, with some New Year’s Day action at Howelsen Hill in downtown Steamboat Springs.

There will be two races, both giant slaloms, with starts scheduled for noon and 2 p.m.

This year’s team is packed with Steamboat racers, as it’s been recently. Madi McKinstry and Tanner Visnick are among the six racers on the U.S. World Cup team. Lyta Foulk, Jeffrey Gay, Jack Rosenthal and Baily Wallisch are all on the U.S. team.
