Taylor Fletcher leads team in Park City

— Taylor Fletcher flew past 15 competitors Saturday for a fifth-place finish in the Continental Cup Nordic combined event at Park City, Utah.

Fletcher, who jumped to 20th place, had the day’s fastest ski time, more than 30 seconds faster on the 10-kilometer course than any other racer.

Austria’s Tomaz Druml won the event, following up his victory Friday in the first race of the two-competition stop in Utah. Lukas Runggaldier, of Italy, was second and Yusuke Minato, of Japan, was third.

Fletcher came in 40.3 seconds behind Druml.

Elsewhere for the United States, Billy Demong was 17th after jumping 14th. Michael Ward was 28th, posting his second strong skiing day in a row as he moved up from 41st.

Colin Delaney was 29th and another big mover, skiing up from 42nd. Jasper Good was 32nd, Ben Loomis was 35th and Ben Berend was 40th.
