Taxi and Suburban collide near Yampa Valley Regional Airport

An Alpine Taxi and Chevrolet Suburban collided Saturday near Yampa Valley Regional Airport. Two were sent to the hospital, with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

— A collision between a Chev­rolet Suburban and an Alpine Taxi on Saturday afternoon near Yampa Valley Regional Airport sent two people in the Suburban to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. on Routt County Road 51, which is the main road used to get to the airport from U.S. Highway 40. The vehicles crashed where C.R. 51 curves sharply to become C.R. 51A. Emergency responders at the scene reported to Routt County Communications there were 16 people on the taxi and injuries were limited to bumps and bruises.

Colorado State Patrol tro­­oper Tonja Cowan still was investigating how the accident occurred.
