Tamsin Angus-Leppan: Thanks to Yoga Center of Steamboat
When I first arrived in Routt County in 2017, I set my sights on working for a community organization. I imagined there would be a handful to choose from. Imagine my surprise when I was told there are over 100 charities and nonprofits in Routt County. I settled on Advocates of Routt County as the best place for me and working at this exciting and dynamic nonprofit has been a fulfilling and highly stimulating experience.
During the past year of my involvement with Advocates of Routt County, I have discovered that many, in fact, most organizations — both nonprofit and private — contribute to the community here, and many acts of kindness and generosity go unheralded. One organization in particular, I would like to thank: the Yoga Center of Steamboat.
Owner Cheryl Anders has generously hosted donation yoga classes at her yoga studio to raise money for Advocates of Routt County, as well as providing her studio space, free of charge, for our support groups. I know from first-hand experience that it is challenging to make profits from yoga studios, so Cheryl’s generosity comes from a true desire to contribute to this community and help support programs like our’s at Advocates. Cheryl has not named in the “20 under 40” list, and she tells me she shies away from overt promotion, so that gives me all the more reason to say “Thank you, Cheryl” for all that you do, out of the goodness of your heart.
