Susan Fowler: Thanks, Wal-Mart

On Tuesday, my son Jeffrey Fowler participated in the search and rescue efforts at Fish Creek Falls.

Jeff has been a member of Routt County Search and Rescue as a volunteer for several years. He is employed by Wal-Mart, and the city of Steamboat Springs. While working at Wal-Mart, the Search and Rescue pager signaled for all general membership to contact headquarters for a rescue attempt. Jeff was relieved of his duties at the pharmacy so that he could respond to this page.

I thought it was important in this day of criticizing Wal-Mart for its lack of community support to give them thanks and praise for their support of the Steamboat community. Mark Meade and his management team have made it possible for volunteers such as Jeff to respond to these important community services.
