Super Seniors: Gordon Jones

Gordon Jones

Editor’s note: The Steamboat Pilot & Today asked readers to tell us about their favorite seniors over the age of 75 and then we asked these Super Seniors to share their secrets to living a long and healthy life.

Gordon Jones

Age: 81

Super powers: Gordon Jones skis and bikes regularly, and he recently decided to get back into running. He volunteers around town at events, helping other seniors with Medicare or assisting at Steamboat Resort as a volunteer ambassador. Someday, his grandkids hope to be able to keep up with him, but they’re going to have to speed up because he’s not slowing down.

What are your secrets to living a long and healthy life?

“I would guess the most important thing is to treat everyone you meet with respect. That makes things less stressful. No. 2, just appreciate what you have in life. I naturally like exercise. And as far as diet, I have to thank my wife, who made sure I ate tremendously over the past 50 years.”
