Super Seniors: Annabeth Light Lockhart

Annabeth Light Lockhart

Editor’s note: The Steamboat Pilot & Today asked readers to tell us about their favorite seniors over the age of 75 and then we asked these Super Seniors to share their secrets to living a long and healthy life.

Annabeth Light Lockhart

Age: 96

Super powers: Annabeth Light Lockhart stays active by swimming at 6 a.m. at the Old Town Hot Springs pool most weekdays, taking an exercise class one or two times a week and going to physical therapy at Johnson and Johnson three days a week. She is an avid quilter, enjoys going out to lunch with family and friends, usually at least twice a week, is an active member of the local Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and hosts a weekly Bible study at her house. She also recently held a volunteer job at the library, where she reviewed historical documents for accuracy. Annabeth is a Steamboat native and a two-time cancer survivor. With the assistance of a walker and caretakers, Annabeth continues to live in her own home.

What are your secrets to living a long and healthy life?

“Be true to yourself. Be who you are. Enjoy life. Have good friends and family. Keep busy. I’ve travelled all over the world, but I’ve never found any place that measured up to Steamboat. I don’t want to live anywhere else.”
