Submissions being accepted for Grounded event at Steamboat library
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Calling all lovers of public lands. Bud Werner Memorial Library and the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council are accepting submissions for their multimedia storytelling event, Grounded, which celebrates Colorado Public Lands Day through a free, live performance put on by community members.
When: 6:30 p.m. May 16
Where: Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library, 1289 Lincoln Ave.
Last year, 15 people presented a performance, which lasted over an hour and a half, and not a single piece was over 10 minutes long.
“Each one was distinctly special. That is what we are looking for in 2019,” said Jennie Lay, the library’s adults program coordinator, in an email.
Storytelling type is not limited to merely short stories or poems. Spoken word, visual arts such as photos and murals, film, dance and even music can be submitted. But no submission can run over 10 minutes. Volunteer judges from the library and the Sustainability Council will select the winners and announce them on April 14.
This year’s event will take place at 6:30 p.m. May 16 at Library Hall. Those interested in participating are encourage to submit their pieces by midnight April 1 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit steamboatlibrary.org/events/grounded2019submissions for more information.
