Steve Lewis: Letter skewed

— I would like respond to Michael Craig’s letter about this “comical council.” Thanks Michael, for signing your letter. Unsigned letters are a waste of ink.

I was at the same hearing and find your description of it to be quite skewed. Even where accurately recounted, you were attacking its fringe comments rather than taking on any of the substantive areas of council consensus. I don’t recall that you ventured to the podium. Did you take your criticism directly to council and I missed it? If you have a better idea, did you offer it?

Your letter says there is no workforce housing problem and from that viewpoint you are laughing at the entire discussion on a nonexistent problem. To my knowledge, even the seriously engaged developers who strongly disagree with elements of the ordinance seem able to agree we do need more workforce housing.

Michael, if you are “truly afraid” of poor decisions being made, surely that creates a decision for you: One, engage, and offer a better solution or two, settle for an insulting flyby.
