Stella Ruth Phillips, 69, died Sept. 2, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 10, 1931. She was a member of the Territorial Daughters of Colorado. Stella graduated from Yampa High School in 1949. She married Lawrence M. Phillips June 19, 1949. They had recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Stella was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of CaCity. Over the years, she served as Sunday school teacher, Royal Ambassadors instructor, Sunday school secretary and Prayer Chain chairperson. She worked as secretary/treasurer for CaFire Equipment for 37 years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; five children, Kathi (Larry) Kuretich of Winnemucca, Nev., Tim (Lorrie) Phillips of CaCity, Jane (Cecil) Freeman of Texas Creek, Jolene (Mark) Willsey of Centennial and Darlene (Dana) Whitlock of CaCity; eight grandchildren, Michael Phillips of Decatur, Ala., Kristi (Brian) Mergen of Florence, Cassandra Kuretich of Winnemucca, Nev., Jenny Phillips of CaCity, Kestra Kuretich of Winnemucca, Nev., and Stefanie Collins, David Barbosa, Steven Phillips, all of CaCity; four siblings, James (Patricia) Woodcock of Yampa, Darlene Irwin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Virginia Phillips of Sunnyvale, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. She will be sadly missed by all. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Davis Woodcock and Ruth Rebekah Woodcock.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 6, 2001, at the First Southern Baptist Church. A visitation was from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 5, at Holt Family Funeral Home. Interment was at Lakeside Cemetery.
