The World Cup circuit continued for Nordic combined athletes over the weekend, marking the end of period one of the season in Ramsau, Austria.
Steamboat Springs’ Annika Malacinski overcame challenging weather to place 15th in the 5-kilometer mass start on Friday, following up with a 12th place finish in Saturday’s Compact. Malacinski now ranks 16th on the World Cup rankings among women.
Alexa Brabec had a strong ski in Friday’s mass start, but was unable to get a jump score after missing the PCR on Thursday. A fall on Saturday’s jumps eliminated her from the Compact competition. Brabec currently sits in 23rd position on the World Cup rankings.
Niklas Malacinski found his way into a 27th place finish on Friday’s 10k mass start. He followed up with 31st on Saturday.
Ramsau marks the end of the first half of the Nordic combined World Cup season. Athletes will be back in action on Jan. 17 in Schonach, Germany.
