Steamboat’s Loweree earns NorAm podium in Calgary

— Recently minted U.S. Ski Team member and Steamboat Springs moguls skier Brittany Loweree won a dual moguls event at the first NorAm of the season Friday in Calgary, Alberta.

Loweree, who finished seventh in the single moguls event a day earlier, said she realized how competitive the field was and wanted to break through.

“Going into duals you generally want to pick up your speed,” Loweree said about the Calgary course, known for its change in pitch and hard snow. “It was a challenging course, so I just focused on keeping myself tight in the moguls. I wanted to be forward and in control.”

In the singles day, Steamboat’s Lane Stoltzner was 10th, and Rebecca Miller was 14th.

On the men’s side, Michael Degrandis was sixth, Reed Snyderman was 12th, and Ryan Dyer was 25th.

In dual moguls, Stoltzner followed Loweree with a sixth, and Alexa Stein was 14th. Degrandis led the men with an 11th, and Dyer was 14th.

The NorAm series continues today and Thursday in Park City, Utah, with a pair of single moguls events.
