Steamboat’s adoptable pets: Hermione the cat and Vern the dog

Hermione, 5, came to the shelter as a stray and was never claimed. She’s a shy girl who likes to play hide and seek. Hermione’s friendly and social and likes to be petted when it’s quiet. Hermione loves other cats. She’s unsure about dogs but would probably do fine with a mellow dog. Hermione loves to nap in the sun and watch the birds out the window. She would do best in a quiet home and was probably a librarian in a past life.

Vern is a 5-year-old male dog who was found as a stray in Vernal, Utah. Vern loves to play outside and go on long walks, and thinks hikes are the best. Vern is a great adventure buddy but does have to stay on his leash, as he sometimes gets over-excited about the world around him. One of Vern’s favorite things is belly rubs, which make him smile. He makes cute noises, grins and wiggles around when excited. Slow introductions with other dogs are best for Vern, and he can’t live with cats.
