Steamboat Winter Sports Club snowboarders pile up podiums

— Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club snowboarders climbed the podium 29 times racing Saturday at a pair of Alpine snowboard races at Copper Mountain. Ten of those trips were first place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom races.

Winston Vaughan, in the breaker boys division, Grace Drobek in breaker girls, Marty Boyd in menehune boys and Cody Winters in youth men all won both of their races.

Garrett Denny and Everett McEwan each won one race in the men’s open class, trading the position with each other. Each finished second in the race the other didn’t win.



Cooper Scheel was second, Jacy Werner was third and Johnny Duty was fourth in breaker boys slalom. Scheel was second, Duty was third and Werner was fourth in the giant slalom race.

Walker Overstake was second and Braden Duty was third in both the slalom and giant slalom race.



Jake Larsen was third in the giant slalom menehune boys division while Rebecca Dillion was second and Sophie Scheel was third in both of the slalom and giant slalom races.

Billy Winters was third in both races in the open men’s class while Ben Larsen was second in the giant slalom race and third in the slalom event.
