Steamboat Stampede 19U Girls sweep Aspen Fall Face-Off Tournament
The Steamboat Stampede U19 Girls Hockey Team traveled south this weekend for the Aspen Fall Face-Off tournament.
The girls responded strong after its loss in the season opener earlier this month, winning the Face-Off with a perfect 5-0 record across Saturday and Sunday.
The Stampede scored a total of 30 goals in the tournament, defeating Vail, Aspen and Grand Junction in round-robin play before defeating Grand Junction and Aspen again in the playoffs to secure the tournament victory.
Across all five games, the Stampede saw nine unique scorers with Brynn Becker notching six goals total, earning a hat trick in both games one and four. Taylor Bennett was the team leader, finding the back of the net eight times and securing the tournament win with a hat trick against Aspen en route to the team’s 7-1 dominant win in the championship.
Next up for the Stampede is the Adele Dombrowski Mountain Divas tournament in Steamboat Springs on Nov. 16-18.
