Steamboat Springs Alpine skier Bode Flanigan was named Boston College’s men’s Eagle of the Year on April 24.

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club alum joins other renowned Boston College athletes who have received the honor including Doug Flutie, Matt Ryan and Johnny Gaudreau.

Flanigan was selected after a storied career in Chestnut Hill that saw him qualify for three NCAA Championships and become a first-team All-American in slalom in 2025.

“Flanigan finished his Boston College skiing career as one of the program’s most consistent and accomplished Alpine competitors,” said Boston College Athletics in a news release. “The Steamboat Springs, Colorado native steadily developed into one of the top skiers in the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association and the NCAA.”

In his senior year, Flanigan placed in the top-10 in every slalom race, including three top-five finishes.

As a junior, Flanigan made program history when he became the first Boston College skier to podium at the NCAA Championships — taking the bronze in men’s slalom. He also had eight top-10 finishes throughout the season.

His sophomore campaign was highlighted by a podium finish in the giant slalom at the Harvard Carnival, along with a sixth-place finish in the slalom at the Colby Carnival.

He opened his Boston College career as a freshman, helping lead Boston College to a third-place team finish in slalom at the EISA Championships.

Flanigan also participated in various community and Boston College initiatives. He was named to the dean’s list seven times and was a three-time ACC Honor Roll selection.

He will graduate with a degree in economics and a minor in philosophy and theology. He also won the Academic Advisors Award for Excellence, bestowed on the student athlete at Boston College with the highest grade-point average.
