Steamboat Springs High School saw four senior athletes sign letters of intent on Monday to officially further their athletics careers at the collegiate level.

The four signees include Wylie Bonelli-Panzera, women’s lacrosse at Fort Lewis College in Durango; Jakob Ducklow, ice hockey goaltender at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths, New York; Campbell McLaren, Nordic skiing at University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont; and Owen Warwick, football lineman at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois.

During the ceremony, held at the Kelly Meek Gymnasium, Steamboat Athletic Director Luke DeWolfe shared some words for the athletes and their families.

DeWolfe acknowledged the hard work, training sessions and long hours in the car that led to this moment for the seniors. Each athlete then went around, thanking parents, family members and coaches for their support.

DeWolfe concluded with this message to the athletes:

“Make sure when you leave here, you take a little bit of this place with you. You’ll always be Sailors and carry that with you no matter where you go. Make sure you represent what that means, represent this school, your family and your community well. I have no doubt you will do that and you will always have a special place here.”

Steamboat Springs senior Wylie Bonelli, a traditional defender, played some minutes on attack during the Sailors girls lacrosse game against Eagle Valley. Bonelli had a goal and assist in the team’s 16-0 victory.
