Steamboat Springs qualifies girl wrestler for state competition

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Springs wrestler Adalia George recorded a state-qualifying performance over the weekend.

George won her match to get to state in a 7-5 decision, placing fourth overall at the Colorado High School Athletic Association girls Region 1 finals in Mead to qualify for the state tournament, which will be held Saturday in Thornton.

The boys traveled to Gilcrest for the Valley Viking Invitational.

John Slowey, 195, placed third overall with a 3-1 record. Mohammed Alnejdawi, 138, went 2-2 on the day and did not place. Caleb Anderson, 145, went 1-2 and did not place. Ivan Reynolds, 160, and Cole Moon, 220, were 0-2 and also did not place.
