Steamboat Springs High School Alpine ski team qualifies 10 for state in giant slalom

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs High School Alpine ski team saw success at its first competition in Aspen under heavy snow conditions.

Steamboat qualified seven girls for state in the giant slalom, including Ella Pietras, Kendal Flake, AnnMarie Hackworthy, Mae Thorp, Annika Ort, Caroline Baur and Morgan Sauerbrey.

Kia Scott, Alden Wade and Sam Clyncke qualified for state in the boys giant slalom.

The team will travel to Beaver Creek on Friday, Jan. 18, in attempt to qualify more Sailors for state.
