RECIPE: Truffle Pig’s The Truffle Shuffle
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Some cocktails are warm by nature of temperature while some use flavor to transport the taster to a warmer place.
While Truffle Pig offers a variety of cocktails this winter season, “The Truffle Shuffle” is one that’s become a local favorite.
“It’s a boozy version of a chocolate banana smoothie,” said Mark Stanford, beverage director for Truffle Pig and Carl’s Tavern. “This cocktail may appear heavy, but it goes down all too easy.”
Stanford concocted the recipe and said its primary feature is Truffle Pig’s Single Barrel Knob Creek Rye.
“I’ve long awaited the delivery of this barrel, and a 115-proof single-barrel rye plays nicely with the chocolate and fruit characters exhibited in this drink,” he said.
The cocktail also features Giffard Creme de Banane Premium, Truffle Pig’s house-made “Dark Chocolate d’Miel,” Cor di Cioclatta Creme de Cacao, cream and house-made cayenne, espresso bitters.
“The bitters were an interesting venture, which add a sight bite to enhance the banana flavor,” Stanford said.
“The Truffle Shuffle”
- 2 ounces Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye
- 1 ounce Giffard Creme de Banane
- .5 ounces Cuor di Cioccolata
- .5 ounces Truffle Pig’s Dark Chocolate d’Miel
- .5 ounces cream
- 3 dashes of Truffle Pig’s cayenne espresso bitters
- Dried banana slice
- Dried strawberry slice
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, shake and then strain it into a glass.
Truffle Pig serves this particular cocktail over three large rocks in a Collins glass.
Top it off by garnishing the drink with dried banana and strawberry slices.
