Steamboat school district makes emergency calendar change

— The Steamboat Springs School District has made an emergency change to its 2010-11 academic year calendar.

Students originally were scheduled to be out of school Oct. 1 for a staff development day, but that has been changed to Oct. 8. The change was necessary because Oct. 1 is the day that official pupil enrollment day for school districts statewide. Total pupil enrollment as of Oct. 1 is a prime factor in determining how much funding each public school district receives.
