Steamboat Resort moves snowshoeing to Haymaker Nordic Center
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Resort has moved all snowshoeing operations to Haymaker Nordic Center this year as a means to moderate capacity due to the guidelines around COVID-19.
“We are not doing any foot passengers this year at the resort,” said Loryn Duke, director of communications at Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. “It’s part of our COVID mitigation plan. It’s a step we can take to help limit capacity. That’s why we thought it was best to move those operations.”
Haymaker Nordic Center will open as soon as another 18 inches of snow falls, at which point skiing, snowshoeing and fatbiking operations will begin. Rentals are available on site.
Tours on the mountain were pretty popular, but there won’t be a replacement at Haymaker, just self-guided tours, Duke said.
